Agent Compatibility Guide
Choose model authentication, interfaces, and messaging channels that match your XO agent.
XO agents share the same workspace platform, but they do not all use the same model authentication or communication channels. Choose the agent first, then follow only the setup paths listed for it.
| Agent | Documented model connections | Primary interface or channels | Start here |
|---|---|---|---|
| OpenClaw | Anthropic or OpenAI API key; optional ChatGPT/Codex OAuth | Telegram, WhatsApp, or Slack; OpenClaw dashboard | OpenClaw quickstart |
| Claude Code | Anthropic API key or Claude OAuth | Browser or desktop IDE and terminal | Claude Code quickstart |
| Hermes | Anthropic or OpenAI API key | Telegram, WhatsApp, or Slack; Hermes dashboard | Hermes quickstart |
| XO Cowork | Anthropic, OpenAI, or OpenRouter API key | XO Cowork UI; Discord, Telegram, or Slack | XO Cowork quickstart |
The project-creation form and in-workspace Setup screen are the source of truth for currently available options. Third-party provider and channel support can change independently of these docs.
Choose a model connection
- Use Claude OAuth when a supported Claude Code workspace should authenticate with a Claude subscription.
- Use ChatGPT/Codex OAuth when a supported agent should authenticate with a ChatGPT subscription.
- Use an API key when you want provider-based billing through Anthropic, OpenAI, or OpenRouter.
Add data and channels
Data sources connect external accounts such as Google Drive, OneDrive, GitHub, and Vercel. Availability and permissions still depend on the workspace and account.
The current Setup channels guide documents the OpenClaw-style Telegram and Slack flow. XO Cowork channel setup happens inside its onboarding or Settings experience; use the XO Cowork quickstart for that path.
